SUE PEELE

I'd like to tell you something about myself. My given name is Susan but I like to be called Sue (hubby Frank and younger brother Jerry affectionately call me Susie). I have been a member of Beta Sigma Phi since April of 1967 when I pledged in Pensacola, Florida. Those were the days when we actually wore hats and gloves to teas and long dresses to
Founder's Day and our balls.  Frank and I married on December 20, 1961 in Oak Harbor, WA and we have 2 children, Donna who is now 40 and Scotty, 39. Donna has 2 children, Kylie and Benjamin and is married to Wally Kimari who is a Lutheran pastor. They live in El Cajon, CA. Scotty is married to Karen who runs a day care from their home. Scotty works for Cox Cable in San Diego. They have four children; Billy and Joey(from Karen's first marriage and Jessica and Rebecca). Being a grandparent is a real joy. I love having the family within a two hour drive of where we live; close but not close enough for any of them to just drop by and hope we will watch the kids while they go out to dinner and a movie.

I don't work outside our home. I do keep busy with my work at our church. I am the president of our local United Methodist Women. This is my third year as president but it will be my last. I have enjoyed the opportunity to lead this group of women and I grown in my leadership skills as well as spiritually.  I also learned I really enjoy putting together a "show". For the past two years our primary UMW fundraiser has been a "Follies". Course it takes more than just me to pull it all together but it is a heck of a lot of fun. STRESSFUL but fun! Dates for this year's production are May 20 and 21 so if any of you are in our area at that time reserve your space now. I guarantee you will have a good time and a good meal. My local land chapter is Laureate Iota Kappa, which is made up of 9 gals.  We meet twice a month. Most of these gals have never been in any other chapter there entire sorority life.

As I get older, I find I enjoy staying home more and more. I am not a person that enjoys shopping unless I have a specific reason to go out to shop. I am content to curl up with a good book or to work on a piece of needlework or to watch a movie. I like to work in my garden or even find I like to do what my mom enjoyed doing at times and that was to just sit and do nothing. And naps are ALWAYS good.  Right now, Frank and I are working on redoing our kitchen and generally giving our house a good cleaning out. My decor is "constantly cluttered" and I am trying desperately to correct that so we can spend our senior years in a more warm and serene atmosphere. I want to go back to having friends over for dinner or to play cards or just a nice old-fashioned visit. So come by and sit a spell with us sometime. I'd love to get to know you all better and I hope this little look at me has helped you to know me a little better too.
