I'm Valerie Pendergrass, I live in
Clovis, CA. I am married to Floyd together we have a cat Scooter and 3 dogs,
Becky, Tasha and Harley. Scooter is orange and really has attitude.
Sometimes I think that Floyd feeds him catnip or jumping beans.
Becky is a Chesapeake and Springer spaniel mix, those of you who have seen her
picture, the only Springer in her is her ears... She has a great temperament,
but does like to dig. Then there is Tasha, she our little brown dog, not quite
sure what she is but she is a real lover, but jealous.... Then there is
Harley... Well Harley is Lhasa Apso... he was a foster dog who never quite
went away. When I was working in Shaver Lake, his daddy was arrested and
they were going to take Harley to the pound cause there was no one to look
after him, so little old soft hearted me said ohhhhhh, I'll take him until his
daddy gets out of jail... Well I'm sure his daddy is out by now, but I still
have Harley.... He has one eye, don't know what happened there, he was
like that when we got him, loves to rough house with Tasha and at some point
injured his one good eye... did surgery, again that heart thing came to play,
$500 bucks later he is now OUR dog. Harley rules the roost, it's actually
somewhat funny to watch him be the last one out the door, the first one in the
door, the last one to finish eating so Becky doesn't try and get Tasha's
food... Anyway that is our family.... Then we have between us 4 boys all grown
and living apart from us.
Our 1st boy, Dale is married to Kathy and has one son Weston and
live in Alamogordo New Mexico. Weston during his sophomore year of High School
made the National Honor Roll for High School Students. He is interested in
computers and by some maybe considered a computer geek. But someday..... who
knows. Weston is an explorer scout in his spare time and plays piano and loves
computer games. If you loose Weston just go looking in his room and you will
usually find him on his computer... working on something...
Our 2nd boy Patrick has never been married, had lots of
girlfriends, but can't keep them. Always seems to be able to find jobs, but
can't keep them. Comes back home when things get too hard for him. He
currently resides in Visalia, CA. Not much more to say about him
except he is the father of Terra who currently resides in Fresno CA in Foster
care.. Then there is Terra, she is a whole other ball game.... Her
mother used drugs when pregnant with her and Pat is so afraid that she will
end up like her mom and him that he is just too hard on her.... Well she
figured out that if she cried wolf she would get to do and be who she wanted
to be... Well to say the least she is in the Foster care system
and does not want to live with me cause I am her dads mom.... She wants
to visit, but not stay.... That's OK she needs to be with younger
people... but to a point in Foster care she tells them how it will be... I
don't really like that. She can't go places, or do things without an
adult around, but on the other hand if SHE at 14 decides she does not want to
do something or go someplace they can't make her go? She is
14 for goodness sake, she will go and do what we ask.... She
doesn't buck me much anymore cause I'm grandma and the same rules don't apply
to me... If I say she goes to church on Sunday when she's with me
she goes.... Not so in Foster care, if she says No then all they
have to do is find a sitter and she doesn't have to go or they can stay home.
That is just too much power for a child... She does not yet posses
all the information necessary to make a good decision.... There
are many other things, like if she has money Foster care can't tell her how
she can spend it... Some of things she buys with her money...
Let's just say, if with me I would say no! Enough about her....
Moving on to our 3rd son Mike.... Mike is married with 2 children
Michael Ray , 18 and April, 14. Mike is Floyds from his 1st
marriage and Mike doesn't, to this day like me very much....
I'm the reason his mom and dad did not get back together.... Never
mind that they were divorced 8 years before I ever met Floyd....
But that's OK..... Mike and Sharon live in Tipton CA and we don't
hear much from him or see much of him.... Pretty much if he needs
money he will call.... Currently unemployed, not too sure how they
are making it, but I just put my foot down and said no more.... Now they
really don't like me!
